From December to April each year, Sri Lanka’s south coast features calmer waters and we venture out to sea in search of marine biodiversity - especially blue whales and sperm whales during their migration around the southern tip of the island.
Our whale expedition experience is guided by a Cape Weligama naturalist, who will provide informative commentary on the whales, including their migration patterns and behaviour. Other marine wildlife such as dolphins, turtles, types of fish and bird life can also be spotted during this marine safari.
Indulge in a freshly prepared breakfast while our crew keeps a keen eye out for whales and dolphins. The vessel includes numerous vantage points for everyone to witness the stunning marine wildlife.
As the catamaran continues its voyage, treat yourself to a freshly prepared lunch onboard, all while indulging in breathtaking vistas of the surrounding cliffs, lighthouses, and pristine beach.
Upon returning to the harbour, transportation will be readily available, and our dedicated guide will ensure a comfortable journey back to Cape Weligama.
All experiences are subject to weather conditions. While our team will try their best to locate whales, we do not guarantee sightings of whales, and no refunds are given if no whales are seen. Our Whale Expedition adheres strictly to observation guidelines, including the proximity and direction of the craft during whale sightings.
Starting from 21st December 2024 to 15th April 2025 (Every Tuesday & Saturday).
