These highly anticipated events bring together celebrated chefs and culinary innovators from London—Mr. Lyon, Dominic Fernando, and Cynthia Shanmugalingam—each renowned for their distinctive contributions to Sri Lankan gastronomy and mixology.
The series promises to redefine the resort’s dining experience by combining local flavours with international flair.
February 9th: Tipsy High Tea with Mr. Lyan
Kicking off the series, acclaimed mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana aka Mr Lyan will host a lively boozy high tea experience at Cape Weligama. Known for his inventive approach to cocktails, Ryan has a trail of accolades—including World’s Best Bar, Person of the Decade, World’s Best Bar Team, and World’s Best Bar Menu. Mr Lyan will elevate the high tea experience in his own inimitable way and feature Ceylon Arrack, Colombo Gin and Three Families Cocktail Seasoning, a unique collaboration between Dilmah, Rockland, and himself. Guests can look forward to a decadent afternoon of indulgent bites paired with curated cocktails, all served against the breathtaking backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
February 15th: A Gourmet Dinner by Dominic Fernando
February 15th: An immersive chef’s table experience by Dominic Fernando in association with the Gourmet Galle festival, Cape Weligama will welcome Dominic Fernando. Inspired by challenging traditional expectations of Sri-Lankan hospitality, Dominic will craft an ingredient focused journey with a fiery island accent – rooted in unfamiliar flavours and innovation. Playing with flavours and textures all with respect to Sri Lanka’s food culture.
Known for his hit restaurant Paradise in London (UK), Dominic will be previewing Open Door Policy, his new concept at the festival with Cape Weligama as the backdrop – an immersive chef’s table experience, which is due to open in Colombo this Spring.
March 15th: An Heirloom Seed Dinner with Rambutan’s Cynthia Shanmugalingam
To conclude the series, Cynthia Shanmugalingam, celebrated author and restaurateur of the smash-hit Rambutan in London, will bring her expertise to Cape Weligama. Known for her best-selling cookbook ‘Rambutan’ and dedication to sharing the stories behind Sri Lankan cuisine, Cynthia’s collaboration will feature a thoughtfully curated menu with a modern celebration of the island’s rare and heirloom vegetables, recipes and grains.
These collaborations reflect Cape Weligama’s commitment to redefining luxury hospitality through exceptional experiences that honour Sri Lanka’s culinary legacy.
