Our collection of five Bungalows built between 1888 and 1925 consist of 5 to 6 rooms & suites each with great character & personality. Day 1

Ceylon Tea Trails | Summerville Bungalow

Welcome to the lush green mountains of Hatton! Reaching Hatton, proceed to Ceylon Tea Trails to experience a Planter's lifestyle. Upon arriving at your planter's bungalow, you will be welcomed by your personal butler who will guarantee you a memorable experience, along with the best of Sri Lankan hospitality. Information on modes of transport including road, rail and air transfers can be accessed HERE. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps enjoy some of our experiences and activities included in your stay such asbicycle rental to explore the surroundings, marked walking trails croquet on the lawn and afternoon Cream Tea.

Day 2

Ceylon Tea Trails | Norwood Bungalow OR Dunkeld Bungalow

This morning, after an early breakfast leave Summerville and drive to Kotagala (30 minutes), to Hike stage 7 of the Pekoe Trail. Prepare yourself for a series of pathways through rolling hills of green tea fields and a view of the emerald Castlereigh Reservoir in the Bogawantalawa Valley. The trail also passes by one of Sri Lanka’s oldest planters clubs, the Darawella Club, which is well worth a short stop or visit.

Note: Packed refreshments and snacks will be provided by your butler, along with sufficient drinking water.

Upon reaching the trail's end point, you will be picked up and transferred to either the Norwood Bungalow (a 10-minute drive) or the Dunkeld Bungalow (a 25-minute drive). Your luggage will already have been transferred to your room or suite at your next bungalow.

Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at the bungalow, then spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the surroundings and facilities of your bungalow.

Day 3

Ceylon Tea Trails | Norwood Bungalow OR Dunkeld Bungalow

After a scrumptious breakfast, enjoy our signature Tea experience. A shared experience led by our resident planter, where you will dive into the world of Ceylon Tea. Following the Tea Experience, enjoy a short hike to a very scenic location in the estate and indulge in a very unique Planter’s Tiffin Lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing kayak ride on the picturesque Castlereagh Reservoir. In the evening, indulge in a special Tea Infused Dinner at your bungalow.

Day 4

Ceylon Tea Trails | Tientsin Bungalow

Enjoy an early breakfast at your bungalow. Leave your bungalow and proceed to the start point of Stage 8 of The Pekoe Trail (10 / 25 minute drive). This trail begins in Norwood, the gateway to the Bogawantalawa Valley - also known as the ‘Golden Valley of Tea’. On your walk, you climb up towards a ridge that separates the Bogawantalawa Valley and the Maskeliya Valley, considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the tea country, which is also home to the sacred summit of Adam’s Peak.

Note: Packed refreshments and snacks will be provided by your butler, along with sufficient drinking water.

Once you reach the end point of the trail, you will be picked up and transferred to the Tientsin Bungalow which is a 10 minute drive. Your luggage will already have been transferred to your room or suite at Tientsin bungalow.

Enjoy your lunch at the Tientsin Bungalow then spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the surroundings and facilities of your bungalow.

Day 5

Ceylon Tea Trails | Tientsin Bungalow

Today, you have the option to enjoy a half-day guided hiking trail with one of our resident naturalists (supplements apply) and explore nature. Alternatively, you can relax in the comfort of your bungalow or the beautiful gardens, read a book, play some of our board games, or take a dip in the pool and hot tub. You can explore the area on bicycles provided by your butler or enjoy a marked walking trail Alternatively, you could relax with an in-room spa treatment from our extensive spa menu (supplements apply).

Day 6

Departure

Spend the morning hours enjoying one of the many experiences available at the property. Late morning, bid farewell to your mountain home and proceed to your next destination, taking along the wonderful memories from your hill country adventure.
