As a tropical island Sri Lanka has a record of more than 480 bird species, which include resident and migratory species. Although the Central Highlands is not a recognised place to go for bird watching, Ceylon Tea Trails does offer plenty of opportunities to see nearly 15 endemic birds including rare threatened species. A total number of 101 bird species have been recorded from the landscape of all bungalows including the walking trails. A further 17 migratory bird species were also recorded amongst the different habitat types found within the premises.
